DESCRIPTION: French figural garniture with candelabra, with 8 day pendule a Paris time and strike movement, recoil escapement and count wheel striking on a bell, white enamel Arabic numeral dial with floral decoration, blued steel hands, gilt brass bezel with beveled glass, the large case of patinated spelter, with a young couple swinging between two pruned tree trunks, the trunks supporting vines with leaves and ferns below, the rustic style feet with oak leaves and acorns, on a marble base with fine red orange veining, and set with a small plaque engraved "Idylle Printaniere Par Geo. Maxime", the right side of the clock case also signed Geo. Maxime, the candelabra also with pruned trunks supporting vines, each with a single Putti, ending in spreading branches with leaves and budding flowers, each supporting one bud form candle cup, and supported by marble bases on 4 rustic feet, with key c1880
CONDITION: Movement very dirty, time and strike trains functional, dial very good with minor flaking around winding arbors, gilt bezel with wear to brass, clock case is dusty but very good, with intact patina and coloring, a small rub on the arm of the boy which could be repaired, no breaks in spelter, marble very good, feet were originally gilt, and have been painted gold, ornament in center of base loose, the candelabra also very good, with good color and patina no breaks, marbles very good, feet without damage, but also painted gold, one ornament in center of base loose. clock Ht 27", candelabra Ht 25 1/2" A particularly nice example of a type of clock which is rarely found without damage
